About Us
The Heritage Project (THP) is an initiative dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and revitalization of India’s cultural heritage. We believe that heritage is not just about conserving the past – it’s about engaging with it meaningfully to build more inclusive, resilient, and connected communities. Our work spans across various aspects of heritage, combining research, community engagement, public programming, and creative interpretation to make heritage accessible and relevant to all.
Research and Documentation
We begin with knowledge. Through rigorous primary and secondary research, we document the heritage of India. Our documentation efforts aim to create reliable archives that inform planning, advocacy, and conservation.
Community Engagement
At THP, we work closely with local residents, youth groups, and cultural custodians to co-create programs that reflect their lived realities. Our community-first approach ensures that heritage is not imposed but nurtured collectively.
Collaborations
We believe in the power of partnerships. By working with government bodies, urban planners, conservation experts, academic institutions, and grassroots organizations, THP brings together diverse expertise and perspectives. Our collaborative approach allows us to build scalable models of heritage management rooted in both technical rigour and local relevance.
Accessibility
Heritage should be for everyone, not just academics, tourists, or policymakers. THP designs inclusive tools and experiences that help people connect with heritage in everyday ways. From interpretive signage and visual guides to children’s books like Roo and Pip’s Adventures, walk leader training modules, and site-based interventions like street lighting and wayfinding, we ensure that our work reaches diverse age groups and abilities.
Awareness
We use art and design to spark curiosity — through murals, installations, façade enhancements, and cultural programming that make heritage sites safer, cleaner, and more engaging. Awareness, we believe, is the first step toward preserving heritage.
At The Heritage Project our goal is to transform heritage from a passive memory into an active force. By combining research with empathy, and preservation with innovation, we hope to inspire a generation of heritage custodians who care, act, and create.
Our Vision
Revival Through Preservation of Tangible and Intangible heritage of India.
Our Mission
We envision an all-inclusive approach that involves all stakeholders; Governments, Community and Corporates.
